BAU Executive Education in collaboration with Afri-One Foundation has launched a training program on Entrepreneurship and Innovation for over 100 selected students in Ghana. These students were chosen from different communities, churches and constituencies. They will undergo an 8 week intensive and in-depth training delivered through a blended model.
A training orientation was held on 11th April, 2016 at the Academic City Building of Sikkim Manipal University, Ghana and was graced by dignitaries and prominent entrepreneurs. Most notable of them was the presence of The Queen Mother, Nana Esi Nisin VIII, Ekumfi Ekrawfo. Others present were Prince Etornam William Attipoe, Nii Amah Lomo Boi-Bi-Boi, Rev (Dr) Bernard Afresa Taylor and many more, who encouraged the students to maximize this golden opportunity and reach their various potentials.
The training is intended to educate and teach the students on all aspects of starting a business venture. It is planned that at the end of the training period, the students will be proficient in planning, organizing, directing and controlling functions of business operations as entrepreneurs who assume all responsibilities and risks involved. The students are also expected to have covered aspects of innovation as it relates to entrepreneurship.
During the training program, we will be piloting our Blended Mode of Delivery which involves a 2-track learning system where in addition to the online courses the student will take, they will have weekly meetings at our partnering Sikkim Mampal University to receive facilitation and student support services. On successful completion of the program, the students will be awarded certificates by BAU Executive Education.
The program has already recorded a success story as after one week of classes, a business has successfully been launched. A student in the program, Faith Ajioreghene Augustine who is also the Founder of AfriOne and Convener of this initiative, through tutoring and contacts made through the program has secured some land to start a large scale fruit farming and processing business. Backed by her newly-found partners and secured funds, she has ordered tractors for her farm and will be going full time into creating a successful business on completion of the program.
